Much more than just a 'racing bike'
Whether your junior rider wants to ride fast on the road, start muddy cyclo-cross racing, go on long-distance cycle tours, or simply have the most efficient machine for cycling to school, the Luath is the perfect choice.
Where practicality meets performance
By using heat-treated, variable thickness 7005 aluminium, Luath frames are super light but still tough enough to handle the power of junior competitors. Each frame size has been designed specifically to provide ultimate control and comfort for young bodies. Then they’re coated in a hard-wearing, long-lasting paint finish. Each Islabike can be fitted with grippy cyclo-cross tyres or touring tyres, Islabikes’ own mudguards and luggage racks.
Brake levers tailored for children
Luath models all come with genuine Shimano STI integrated levers, which allow riders to change gear and brake with the same controls. Luath riders have smaller hands than adults so we’ve adapted the levers to give a shorter reach. As an extra safety measure, we also fit brake levers on the flat top of the handlebar. The handlebar is our design too, exclusively shaped and size-specific to give a shorter, shallower and narrower shape which is perfect for young riders.
High-quality Shimano gears, picked to perfection
The Luath has 10 speed wide range Shimano gears, which means every rider will have the right gear to tackle any hurdle. Our exclusive lightweight aluminium cranks are custom-made to purposely spec’d lengths and have narrow Q-factors ensuring growing legs comfortably go through a perfect range of motion with each pedal stroke.
Wheels that are super-light, yet super-tough
We use the finest components to build our wheelsets, such as exclusive Islabikes aluminium rims and hubs. Our spokes are stylish black, double-butted and stainless steel. Quick releases allow the wheels to be easily removed for maintenance or transportation and every Luath has narrow section, tarmac-loving Kenda Kontender tyres fitted as standard. Our wheels are fast enough for racing or road riding; strong enough for cycling to school or touring; and can be easily fitted with chunkier rubber for cyclo-cross or carrying more load.
Whether racing, touring or riding for fun, the right saddle is fundamental
Most serious adult riders change their saddles almost the minute their new bike is out of the shop. We've given this matter a great deal of thought. Our junior Islabikes saddles are the most properly proportioned perches available for young riders. The Luath saddle’s svelte, racy shape and lightweight build really couldn’t crown this bike better.
