About Islabikes

Islabikes was born in 2006 when former professional cyclist and triple British cyclo-cross champion Isla Rowntree set about changing the future of children’s bikes. Literally ‘born in a barn’, Isla rented a tiny workspace in a converted barn in Claverley, Staffordshire. With a homemade desk, £5 special offer phone/pen pot/stapler/ruler set and a single workstand for bike assembly, she began to change the expectations and enjoyment of junior riders everywhere.

As the awareness and demand for our bikes has grown so has Islabikes. We’re now a thriving 34 strong company in the picturesque Bromfield just outside of Ludlow, South Shropshire. 2013 saw expansion into the US and in 2015 we began distribution to Europe. Tim Goodall who worked alongside Isla for the first 7 years is managing director of our UK and US sites and Isla heads up our new and exciting Imagine Project.

No matter how much has changed, we still love to see the excited faces of children as they ride our bikes. From balance bike to pedalling for the first time or traffic beating school runs to junior competition and countryside exploration, our mission is to give children a better cycling experience.
