Have you had your Islabike a while? Maybe you’re passing it on to a younger sibling? Here are the adjustments you can make to ensure your Islabike fits perfectly every ride.
When your child sits on the bike, you need to check the saddle height. The balls of their feet should reach the ground on both sides when they are sat on the saddle. It can be tempting to set the saddle too low so they can get their feet flat on the floor. Setting it this low can make riding more difficult as it causes the child’s knees to rise too high making pedalling less efficient. More importantly, for learners it can cause a wobbling side-to-side motion.
When children are very young they need to be sat upright on their bikes so their internal organs are not compressed in their upper chest cavity. As they grow it is natural that they adopt a more ‘sporting’ position, so they lean forward a little allowing more of their body weight to be supported by their arms.
Although they don’t require adjusting as much as the saddle there is some adjustment in the handlebar height on your Islabike. If your child is at the start of the growth range of their bike, the handlebars should be in the correct position when you receive your Islabike. Some adjustment will inevitably be required as they grow, so we have instructions in the video below.
