How to measure height:
- Ask your child to remove their shoes and stand straight, with their back against a wall.
- Place a book on their head so that it touches the wall.
- Make sure your child still has their heels on the ground, then mark with a pencil where the bottom of the book touches the wall.
- Measure from the mark to the floor.
How to measure inside leg:
- Ask your child to take off their shoes and stand straight, with their back against a wall.
- Place a book between their legs and slide it up the wall to meet the crotch firmly as if they are sat on a saddle.
- Make sure your child still has their heels on the ground, then mark with a pencil where the top of the book the touches the wall.

Featherweight frame and full carbon fork for flat out racing
The Luath Pro Series frame and full carbon cyclo-cross fork guarantee the lightest possible weight and an uncompromised fit. Beyond this, ‘cross specific features driven by years of racing provide ambitious riders with the bike they deserve.
The Luath Pro Series frame has plenty of mud clearance and a flattened top tube underside for comfortable shouldering. Its smooth-welded 7005 alloy tubing is size-specific and double butted, minimising weight.
The frame’s unique geometry means each Luath Pro Series model has the largest wheel size possible for its intended rider, without compromising fit or handling. Bigger wheels help smooth out terrain for a more confident and stable ride.
The Luath Pro Series’ bottom bracket height lowers its centre of gravity and saddle height relative to the ground. The result is that the rider can have the saddle at the correct height for an efficient pedaling motion, but also feel secure in reaching the ground. This detail is vital for boosting rider confidence.
Proven shifting reliability in the toughest conditions
Sequential shifting is light and simple with the combination of Shimano Ultegra 11-speed derailleur and shifter, wide range 11-36 tooth SRAM cassette and single front chainring.
Islabikes’ team racers have proven through countless ‘cross races that our lightweight, aluminium double chainguard gives second-to-none chain retention in the toughest conditions. This also allows us to fit a non-clutch Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur that’s lighter in weight and action.
Our elite race experience has taught us that external gear cables deliver slicker shifting and are easier to service. The Luath Pro Series’ gear cable takes the shortest route possible under the bottom bracket, for the least resistance. Outer cable sections are left as short as possible resulting in the lightest available shift action for small hands.
Efficient power delivery with lightweight, low Q-factor cranks
Our exclusive aluminium cranks are specifically sized for each Luath Pro Series model and have a very low Q-factor to ensure perfect foot alignment and efficient power delivery. Improved pedalling clearance when powering through corners means we don’t have to compromise ride height and stability.
A narrow Q-factor, or the distance between pedals, is crucial for efficient pedalling, but why?
With a wide Q-factor a rider with shorter legs will find their legs going out to the side at a far greater angle when pedaling than those of an adult rider. This increased angle is uncomfortable and makes pedaling less efficient because part of the force is going off sideways rather than downwards. Not only that, the sideways forces can make the rider sway as they pedal.
Exclusive race-ready wheels and tyres
All Luath Pro Series models use lightweight, tubeless ready Stan’s No-Tubes Crest rims. These are then laced onto Islabikes’ aluminium hubs with narrow gauge, double butted stainless-steel spokes and brass nipples for a responsive and compliant ride. Islabikes Gréim Pro cyclo-cross tyres are super lightweight and proportionally designed, to complete the race-winning package.
Drawing on decades of racing experience the Cyclocross Pro combines a fast rolling centre tread with carefully scaled and spaced aggressive side knobs for effective mud shedding and excellent grip in corners or off-camber. Its 185 TPI casing is super supple for extra traction and the tyre’s light weight means it’s instantly responsive.
Consistent all-weather braking
Disc brakes offer consistent, reliable braking when racing conditions are at their worst. Hydraulic drop bar levers are too big for little hands, so we spec Shimano Ultegra cable STI levers, pre-adjusted to provide the best reach possible. When combined with exclusive narrow diameter handlebars that are wrapped in thin Lizard Skins bar tape we achieve perfect braking control for small hands.
Avid BB7 Road S disc brake calipers are lightweight and easy to maintain. The Luath Pro Series’ 140mm rotors keep weight down and allow lighter riders a greater level of controlled braking. Our Pro Series Luath 24 and 26 also feature top-mounted brake levers for additional braking confidence for the younger rider.
Small-diameter handlebar designed for shorter reach and shallower drop
Islabikes’ Pro Series lightweight, custom-sized handlebars are the result of years of development and careful observation of youth ‘cross racing. When coupled with a lightweight KCNC short stem that is perfectly sized for growing riders, confident handling is guaranteed.
The Luath Pro Series’ proportional handlebars feature a specific short and shallow shape, designed for youth racers. They allow riders to take advantage of the whole bar, with comfortable grip and enhanced reach to the brakes in all positions.
All Luath Pro Series bars use a traditional 25.4mm clamping diameter rather than the stiffer 31.8mm standard. This allows us to position young racers’ hands comfortably on our narrow handlebars and the subtle extra flex improves rider comfort. We wrap our bars with durable Lizard Skins DSP 1.8mm bar tape, offering excellent grip for smaller hands, particularly in wet conditions.
