A dedicated hardtail for kids hooked on mountain biking
Islabikes’ expertise in understanding how to perfectly position a smaller body on a bike comes directly from our years of experience of elite level competition. We know how a competitive off-road bike needs to feel and perform so smaller riders can exceed their biggest ambitions.
The Creig’s geometry is optimised for confidence and stability on technical trails whilst remaining agile and responsive when climbing.
The world of mountain bike racing has proven that bigger wheels smooth out rough terrain, whilst increasing traction and handling stability. The Creig comes in 24” and 26” wheel sizes, allowing its rider to benefit from the biggest wheels possible whilst maintaining the bike’s perfect fit.
Junior-tuned air sprung suspension forks offer confident control
The Creig comes spec’d with RST’s F1RST air sprung suspension fork. It is pre-adjusted in-house to suit a typical junior rider but can be easily adjusted as rider confidence and terrain challenges grow. The 60 and 80mm travel F1RST suspension forks have a hydraulic lockout lever to stop bounce on climbs and the rebound adjustment range is right for lighter riders too, so there’s no pogo problems on the way down. To top it all the F1RST is fully serviceable.
Lightweight 1 x 10 setup for simple shifting
Our narrow wide chainring and clutch equipped SRAM GX T2 rear derailleur keep the chain quiet and secure on the roughest trails, whilst the wide range 10 speed, 11 – 36T cassette combined with a 32T front chainring give aspiring riders the gears they need.
Custom bars with SRAM Grip Shift and braking give smaller hands unrivaled control
The Creig’s super slim handlebar setup guarantees great grip and brings hands closer to the brake levers whilst SRAM Grip Shift deliver perfect shifting.
The light action SRAM GX 10 speed Grip Shift ensures the whole hand is kept on the bar at all times, even during shifting. They’re totally intuitive to use, have a light 1:1 cable action and much less movement per shift than trigger shifters, making them ideal for smaller hands.
SRAM’s brake levers have a unique close-to-bar pivot point which is perfect for riders with shorter fingers. We also adjust every brake lever so they start working at the sweet spot that offers maximum control and power for smaller hands.
The hydraulic SRAM DB1 brakes give more accurate, lighter action than cable brakes and self-adjust as pads wear for perfect speed control in every situation.
Our handlebars are not just cut down adult bars. Exclusive narrow diameter, lightweight double butted handlebars are made to the correct length and sweep for smaller riders. Carefully calculated wrist angle and a short central bulge gives comfortable control plus plenty of room for brakes and shifters. Finally, Islabikes’ narrow diameter, soft touch, super slim grips allow smaller hands to wrap around the bar and keep fingers closer to brake levers.
Lightweight, size-specific cranks for direct power delivery
Unique Islabikes cranks feature a narrow Q-factor meaning the rider's feet sit closer together for improved pedaling ergonomics. When combined with a low bottom bracket the rider's reach to the floor is reduced and increases the bike's stability through the turns.
The latest evolution of our exclusive lightweight pedals are big enough for feet to find without taking eyes off the trail and give comfortable support all day long. They are shaped to rotate and connect smoothly as the foot contacts them and the recessed centre improves grip and security.
Lightweight wheels for a quick and responsive ride
We’ve always underlined the Islabikes weight and performance advantage with our own custom wheels. We use high quality, lightweight, aluminium double wall rims and disc specific hubs laced with 24 stainless spokes to make a light wheel that climbs and accelerates with ease.
